ÉRATO MEDITERRANEO
Two Italian muses Claudia and Sofia, complementing each other, join forces together to share their vision of the Mediterranean life through their aesthetic photos and always accompanied by the most beautifully detailed stories.
Their artistic view of the world can wake the most dormant travellers, making them discover that beauty can be in the smallest things in life, like an authentic granita under the scorching sun in Taormina, or a 6pm dip in the sea before enjoying an aperitif with friends.
Standing for everything we love at TWFW we reached out with a couple of questions to get to know more of this creative and poetic duo that is Érato.
Hi, we are Sofia and Claudia but on Instagram people know us as Érato!
Ératomediterraneo is born from the desire to share our vision of beauty for everything Italy and Mediterranean related. In particular we want to transmit our way of travelling looking for those hedonic pleasures which Italy is full of. We truly believe that travel should be an orchestration of the senses.
Between you two, who would you say is more the eye and who the pen?
There is not a clear boundary to that, depending on what inspires us at the moment we become either the pen or the eye.
Which item is never missing in your luggages/bags?
Birkenstocks and books: a good read is the perfect accessory for every destination!
What’s your favourite Italian destination?
It changes regularly, but in the last months we happened to visit Florence a lot! That city is the perfect combination of culture, History and good (amazing) food.
What’s your next destination planned?
While answering those questions we are on a train to Sicily! We are gonna spend the whole summer there and we can’t wait to share with you our best secret spots!
What inspires your creativity?
The city we are born and living in: Rome inspires us daily. We also like to get inspiration from all kinds of work of arts as well as music.
What do you love the most about your country?
The friendliness of the locals! We love to chat and hear incredibile stories everywhere we go. You just do not have to be afraid to start a conversation, people in Italy love to “chiacchierare”, the sense of community that is so easy to find!
What’s one must-do experience in Italy in your opinion?
Certainly one of our “must do” in Italy is to eat raw sea urchins while in Puglia. In particular they are famous all over the coast of Fasano and at also at “Porto Badisco”. They are perfect for the aperitivo when paired with iced and sparkling white wine maybe while enjoying a good sunset.
If you had to choose 1 soundtrack for an Italian road trip.
We have to say “Dolcenera” by Fabrizio De Andrè. We have so many memories of road trips connected to that song.
Favourite beach and countryside read?
During summer everything from Camilleri turns out to be the best beach companion, otherwise we love Baricco and Calvino.
What’s your favourite meal?
Keeping the classics out, as true romans we love a very oily plate of coratella.
